1. About these terms

These terms apply to your use of the Amble website. The Amble service itself is governed by the Family terms a family agrees when they choose a companion, and the Companion agreement every companion signs. By using the site or registering with us, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. The site and service are operated by Amble Companions Ltd (company no. 17357800), registered office 3 Ridings Barn, Loxwood Road, Alfold, Cranleigh GU6 8EW ("Amble", "we", "us").

2. What Amble is – and isn't

Amble is a companionship and social-support service. Our companions provide company, conversation, activities, and a friendly regular presence.

Amble does not provide personal care, nursing, medical or clinical care, medication management, or any regulated care activity. Companions are not carers, nurses, or medical professionals, and nothing on this site is medical advice. If you or your family member needs personal or medical care, please speak to your GP, local authority, or a regulated care provider.

3. Registering

Amble is a national service. Registering with us, as a family or a companion, means we keep your details and get in touch - it does not guarantee a place, a companion or paid work, and there is no charge to register. A family agrees the Family terms, and a companion signs the Companion agreement, before any match is confirmed or any money changes hands.

4. Who can use Amble

You must be 18 or over to sign up. If you're arranging Amble on behalf of an older person (for example a parent), you confirm you're entitled to share their details with us and to act for them, and that they're happy to receive visits.

5. Companions

People who register as companions are registering interest. To be approved, a companion passes a live, scored video interview and references, and signs the Companion agreement. DBS and right-to-work checks follow and must clear before a first visit. Companions are self-employed. Registering is not a job offer, employment or a guarantee of work.

6. Fees and payment

Our current prices are on our Pricing page. The price you agree when you sign the Family terms is the price you keep. Nothing is charged until you have chosen a companion, and everything is shown before you pay. Each visit is charged at your companion's own published rate, which is all-in and includes their travel within 15 miles round trip. A one-off introduction fee applies when you go ahead with a chosen match, and a flat monthly Amble membership applies while you are using the service; everything is shown before you pay. Companions set their own rates; Amble does not set companion pay.

7. Your responsibilities

When you use Amble, you agree to give accurate information, to treat companions and older adults with respect, and not to use Amble for anything unlawful, unsafe, or outside its purpose (companionship – not personal or medical care). We may decline or withdraw access to anyone where we reasonably need to for safety or to protect the service.

8. Safety and safeguarding

The wellbeing of older adults and companions is our priority. If you ever have a safeguarding concern, tell us on 0333 305 0644 or at hello@amblecompanions.com. In an emergency, always call 999. Amble is not an emergency or crisis service and should not be relied on as one.

9. Our website

We work hard to keep the site accurate and available, but we provide it "as is" and can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, pause, or withdraw parts of the site or service as the business develops. The content, branding, and design of the site belong to Amble Companions Ltd and may not be copied or reused without permission.

10. Links and third parties

Our site may link to other websites or use third-party providers. We're not responsible for the content or practices of other websites.

11. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law doesn't allow it (for example for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud). Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, Amble isn't liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses, and our responsibility is limited to what's fair and reasonable in the circumstances.

12. Privacy

How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Amble develops. The "last updated" date shows the current version. A change here never changes the Family terms or Companion agreement you have signed, or the price you joined at.

14. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales will deal with any disputes.
